September 5 – Hood River

Today we tried to reserve one more night at Fort Stevens since we liked the area.  But our spot was reserved by someone else so we decided to just move on.

We moved to Memaloose state park, east of Hood River, OR.  We enjoyed this state park.  Later we wished we had stayed 2 nights and explored this area of the Columbia river.

Before we left we went to the local fresh seafood market.  Picked up 1.5 lb of fresh and local Dover fish, 1/2 lb of big scallops, 1/4 lb of Salmon jerky.  Ate the Salmon jerky right away and had the rest for dinner that night.

We missed the exit for the Bridal Veil waterfall.  However we did stop at the Multnomah waterfall.  We hiked up to the bridge area and a little further.  We did not hike to the top of the falls.

Read more of “Catching Fire.”  Listened to more of “The Mariage You’ve Always Wanted.”

Meals – Salmon Jerky and chocolate donuts, lunch was beef jerky, cheese, crackers at the waterfall area, dinner was salad and seafood grilled at the campground.

Played the game Dominion.

Fire
Fire north of Hood River (in Washington since it was over the Columbia river).  Seemed to be a forest fire.

Cooking
Getting ready to grill seafood at the campground.  The fish stuck to the grill, next time I’ll use foil and oil or butter.
